Marise Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 September 2026
Marise is a private, offline-first companion for seafarers. It does not create an account and does not operate a Marise server. There is no sign-in, cloud sync, advertising, or analytics SDK in the app, and the app does not connect to the internet.
Data stored on your device
Your profile, contract, expenses, pay, tips, savings, documents, notes, port visits, photos, and settings are stored in a private folder on your device. Files you attach are copied into that folder. Other apps cannot read them.
Marise asks for photo library access before you choose a profile photo or voyage background. Crew documents are attached with the system Files sheet. Marise copies only the file you pick. It does not read your library in the background.
Reminder permission is used only to show local reminders on your device.
Files you choose to share
Marise can create two kinds of files on your device:
- Expense PDF reports. If you share one (for example with Files, Mail, or AirDrop), that file leaves Marise because you chose to send it.
- Backups. A backup file holds all of your Marise data and is not encrypted. It is saved or sent only where you choose. Keep it as carefully as your documents.
Deleting data
You can delete all Marise data from Settings → Privacy. Deleted records are removed from the device. Uninstalling Marise deletes the local database and attachments. Because there is no Marise account, there is no data on a Marise server to request.
Children
Marise is not directed at children.
